It’s probably the happiest period of your life, from the moment you discover you’re pregnant till the day the baby finally makes his or her appearance.   • Update your wardrobe: Rather than wearing loose clothes that make you look larger, splurge on outfits that are designed for pregnant women. These accentuate your figure even as they provide room for your growing belly. You feel good when you know you look good, so go out and buy some nice clothes to put that spring back in your step.
  • Follow your usual makeup routine: Being pregnant is no excuse to look frumpy, so do your hair like you always do, and put on some light makeup as long as it doesn’t have chemicals that may harm your baby. Your hair is already likely to be lustrous and thicker because of the pregnancy – increased estrogen levels and improved blood circulation can do that to your tresses – so use this opportunity to look your best. Mineral makeup works better than its liquid counterpart during pregnancy, so try it out if you’ve never done so before.
  • Eat the right food: Pregnancy comes with its own cravings, but it’s best if you keep the fatty foods to a minimum. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and other food that’s healthy for you and your baby. Eating right makes you put on just the required amount of weight which makes it easier for you to shed the extra flab once your baby comes. It’s also advisable to drink lots of water so that your skin glows and you stay hydrated.
  • Exercise a little: Consult your doctor about the best form of exercise for your condition; depending on your medical history, you may be allowed to follow a mild to moderate exercise routine. Besides helping you deliver naturally, exercise improves your skin tone and keeps you feeling flexible and healthy as opposed to bloated and heavy.
