Ultrasound Technician Schools in Maine
Maine is famous for its coastal beauty. With lighthouses and sailboats speckling the state’s 3,500 miles of coastline, it is little wonder that Maine draws in visitors throughout the year to soak in the atmosphere and sample the delicious seafood freshly caught off the coast each morning. Ultrasound technicians looking to begin their careers in the state do not face as prosperous an employment outlook as other states, mainly due to Maine’s smaller population and therefore smaller hospital size. However, it is still a great place to get started in the ultrasonography field. There are no licensure requirements for ultrasonographers in Maine, but gaining certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) can increase employment prospects dramatically. After completing formal schooling in ultrasonography and gaining certification, prospective ultrasonography technicians can use resources like the Maine Medical Center and the Maine Recruitment Center to find job openings for various health occupations, including ultrasound technician spots.
